The second solo album from Steve, this is the album where he pushes the boundaries of the country genre. We can hear anything from a hard bitten almost metal country to a crooning ballad.
It’s been a while since this country boy sold the farm and hit the tour circuit and it shows in his music.
Those mellow vocals once described as “weather beaten honey” are taking on a harder edge, honed on the stages in bars and stadiums around the country and his style is adapting to the influences of our modern music culture.
Steve spent seven years as front man and main songwriter for the highly successful Australian country-rock band Sovereign, a band that managed to claim the title of the most awarded country band in Australia. 2001 saw them collecting their first award in Melbourne for Country Band of the Year for one of Steve’s ‘King of the Murray’. He went on to win dozens of National awards with that band including 2004 Album of the Year, 2004 Country Band of the Year, 2005 People’s Choice Awards, 2005 Independent Artist award, 2007 Country band of the year.
In 2007 Steve started his solo career releasing his debut album ‘The Battler’ and put together a touring band with some of the country’s leading musicians. Again the awards and accolades kept coming. Steve won People’s Choice Album of the Year 2008 for that album. Then after the release of his second solo record, he collected the prestigious 2010 APRA Songwriters Composition Award.
Steve continues to tour and deliver his ‘rock-edged’ to the world and is now writing for his third solo album.
